That's because not many collision shops and such use anything but base clear anymore. With a two tone paint job, b/c is also much faster since you're not waiting on a single stage to flash and setup for tape time on the 2nd color. Unless you're a traditionalist and have to have enamel, go with the b/c. I'm in Indy, and would charge you quite a bit less to spray it out, maybe around 250 for the whole thing. Bob is right though, paint nowadays has gotten ridiculous in price and only gets worse every year, just wait until everyone goes with the new waterborne paint systems. lol

I can tell you honestly that I'll probably have around $110 - $125 in materials alone. I don't charge all that much labor because I love what I do and as long as the bills get paid and I can survive, I'm happy with it.

The rattle cans work to an extent, but you won't get the quality of finish like you would if it's applied through an actual spray gun. If you don't want to spend the money, go for it.

You should be fine then, just don't go at it with the expectations of having a show car finish because you won't get it. Otherwise if it's just a matter of getting new color on it to make it look decent, go for it.

I would suggest you get an experiaced painter to do your painting, unless you are an experianced painter you probably won't get the resalts your looking for. I live in Dayton Oh. If your still needing your tail gate painted I could do it for around $50 to $75 plus materials cost (probably $100-$125). The b/c is just the type of paint system that would be best to do your paint work with, the mattalic will be in the base color. Your truck original paint was most likely a b/c system anyway sense it is two toned.
