I got mine from these guys: Buy Remanufactured & Rebuilt Transmissions, Repair, Parts, Services & Diagnostics

They're local for me though; so I don't know if they ship units, or if you need to get them through a third party. Rebuilt trans was about $2400, and labor was about $700

Ford has available Reman E4OD transmissions for around $3500. I believe it's 3 year or 36000 mile warranty.

Had a member some months ago that had doubts about the cost associated with Ford for a reman E4OD but after he weighed all available options, it was the best, as he was moving and he would need that warranty available as he wouldn't have that with a local transmission shop for a rebuild.

If you get quoted less than $2k for a E4OD rebuild, something smells fishy, and I would look further.

I had my '92, 4wd, AOD completely rebuilt, with all new parts, including swapping in the stronger 4R70W internals. It cost me $1700. It's lasted well the last 3 years and I have really worked it.

Thanks guys. This is one of the first ones I saw. Seemed reasonable with free shipping and three year warranty unlimited miles. Don’t know anything about them though. I think I’ll price a local shop as well and go from there. Appreciate the advice...gives me something to work from.
I’ll Thanks guys.

i only deal with local shops with reputable reputation. if something goes wrong with a mail order trans, you have to remove it and ship it back, then wait for them to determine what to do and send it back. then put it back in. so you are down anywhere from 7 days to who knows.
with a local shop, it gets towed in, repaired, and you have it back in 2-3 days.
