I have SYNC3 with the 8" screen. No factory NAV. I drive a lot for work (contractor), often to locations I've not been to before. I use apple maps or google maps for my navigation through apple car play on the SYNC screen. Weird issue today.
I was driving and my GPS began to wander, started nearby but by the end of my trip was maybe 40 miles off. Thinks I'm headed NW when I'm going S. The weirdness is if I unplug the USB from my phone, the phone immediately corrects to the right location. Plug it back into the truck and it tracks back to the wrong location. I've restarted my phone and cycled the ignition on the truck and the problem persists.
Quick search on the forums didn't yield any help although I'm not sure what to search for.
Any ideas appreciated. I anticipate a finger-pointing contest between Apple and Ford if I was to attempt to get help from either of them.

I’m not sure if you’ve tried this or not but have you done a Master Reset of the SYNC 3 system?
This might correct the problem and it definitely wouldn’t hurt to try.
This can be done via the SYNC screen.

When this happens, which navigation service were you using or does it happen with both Apple and Google maps.

Its an option under settings on the sync screen. I unpaired my phone and then did the master reset. Had to re-pair the phone and do a couple of things like re-setup my preferences and the access to fordpass. Wasnt difficult just took a few minutes.
