I just replaced the glass in my truck with an oem from another truck. I used a DC seal but solid without the chrome strip. I have that big gap at both top and bottom. I'm assuming since it is above the pinch weld it should be fine. I'm also assuming that it will allow water to drain rather than back up and go over that pinch weld. But I dunno. Mines been under the carport since install.

I think there is a thick and thin glass, later is thin. Mustang re pop glass is thinner also even if Carlite. I replaced my cracked 78 glass with a 72 glass one time and it was notably heavier and thicker, it was a bear to get it into the old weather strip. Had to replace again and used thin one from a 79 and it was loose but didn't leak. Most laminated glass has been ground down on sharp edges by mfg., maybe they went to far on yours.
