I am in the process of putting a turbo on my 1972 F-250 crew cab with 300 inline six, with a Holley super sniper efi. I am not sure how to go about changing the ignition to electric so I will be able to control timing. Anybody have any experience with this?
I've looked at the pertronix but there doesn't seem to be a ignition box that will work with it. I would like to find something that will work like if you had a msd distributor and msd box.
I just looked at the manual for the Super Sniper and they recommend a magnetic pickup style distributor. So a Unilite is out(because it is photo optic), but any other should be fine. They are all hall effect designed. They just list a + and - wire for the distributor and this is what MSD listed for their system using a Duraspark:
That $60 Cardone I listed should do fine and give you all new parts.
Are you wanting to run a MSD box also?
Here is what I found out about Pertronix:
Can I run a MSD box or other CD unit with the Ignitor™ or Flame-Thrower Billet distributor ? How do I hook it up?
Our Ignitor and Ignitor II electronic ignition systems and Flame-Thrower distributors are compatible with most capacitive discharge boxes. Only Ignitor III electronic conversions and Ignitor III equipped Flame-Thrower distributors cannot be used with other company's CD systems. The Ignitor III can be used with our Digital HP CD box.
Wiring for these Ignition boxes typically follows the instructions for point type ignitions. The red Ignitor module wire should be connected to a 12V ignition power source. The attached diagram applies to MSD 6 series ignitions.

I was originally gonna do a 12v Cummins swap but then thought about doing something different and now I'm gonna turbo the straight 6. Im just now getting to working on the truck I need to fix some dents in the door and then get it repainted.
