Question adjustable rockers?

i have a 71 360/c6 and i am planning on upgrading/rebuilding the top end soon.

thus far i have collected an edelbrock 2105, summit air cleaner and holley 4160 600cfm. getting headers soon; mids i think.

wondering about ignition: debating on getting the pertronix ignitor dizzy/coil OR just getting the module/coil and using my dizzy which was working fine.

thinking of going with the melling rv cam and lifter kit from summit and the summit roller timing set?

i will be getting my heads done at Vellios down in LA unless someone in Fresno area can recommend a better local idea?

so, does any one know of adjustable rockers that can be used?

i found some on summit but i know you gurus probably have better options than that.

i am collecting parts and data so i can prayerfully do this job in one shot as i have seen the posts that go on for years.

thank you.

There were a few setups from the factory that were adjustable. You can find them all the time on ebay. Summit racing sells the reproduced brand new for $300 to keep in mind when shopping. Here's a set of originals I found on ebay:

Make sure the used ones you get aren't trashed, excessive wear and wobbly on the shafts, tips worn badly, adjuster threads worn/loose, ect.

If the cam is mild enough, you could get by with your stock non adjustables. Though you need to confirm that after installation to see if they have the proper preload on lifters.

If the shaft is good in your distributor, then just put the guts in it. Unless you want a fancy new distributor body?

Another thought is if you are going this far, you should think about swapping out the 360 parts and installing 390 Crank, Rods and Pistons to get the full potential out of the rest of the parts you have amassed. I did this with my engine, got the 390 guts, had my heads rebuilt with hardened exhaust seats and adjustable ford rocker arms.

yeah i keep getting deeper into the rabbit hole and the further i go the more i think that too.

the machine shop i know is in los angeles and i live about 4 hours north of there now and they would cost $600 to do the heads right

my plan was just to update this one so it could be a decent runner while i worked on the superficial issues

i can get a rebuilt long block 390 for $1600 not including core charge so i dunno

i was gonna look for a nice short block to work for a swap later

I have adjustable rocker arms. They're nice and all but if I had it to do all over again I'd get factory steel non-adjustables with brass bushings. Unless you have solid lifters, there's not a real benefit to adjustables...just one more thing to come loose under the valve cover.

With that said, T&D rockers are good ones and pricey.

For ignition, I'm happy with my pertronix dizzy and coil. The dizzy has worked well and is readily adjustable.
