I know it's a bad picture, vut was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this tachometer i found in the back if my shop. Its a ford tach. The only marking in the back are 8CYL. which just means its for a v8. Id say its at least gotta be from the 60s. I know its not original to an f100, but was wondering what it could be out of.
Ford has sold accessory tachs forever it seems. I even have one for my 67 Mustang that is keystone shaped. I would not say 60's on the one you have unless you see an actual C#xx prefix on a part number. Looks 80's or later and most likely the light truck /car variety from the needle. the large truck variety had a white needle that matched (or was close) the rest of the instrument cluster and would top out at 4k.

Accessory tach offered for all FoMoCo vehicles for 1965/72, either dash or column mounted, 6 or 8 cylinder.
Illustrated in accessory brochures. Some were marked Ford, some were marked SUN (possibly the maker for both). Some had crossed checkered flags on them.
I have original 1965 car & truck, 1966 truck accessory brochures that show these tachs, the part number and the prices.
The truck was Calypso Coral, but i recently put a rust free cab on it. I just happened to keep the glovebox dior and the ashtray haha. Thanks though. You can see the old cab in tgw backgroud of picture 1.
Yep, Calypso Coral was one of their colors. And with your black cab, which is where they would have used blue, you're almost there!
Just add a matte-black hood and you're a desert racing champeene like dude.
Well, they would also have had a Wimbledon White body above the line, but now I'm pushing things a bit far.
Cool truck no matter what.
Notice the blue oval on the tach. Ford started using the oval in 1982. That is an SVO (Special Vehicle Operations-not the 84 SVO Mustang in-dash tach) tach sold over the counter until the 90's, I think, when Ford started their next series of factory racing parts, Ford Racing Parts, which today is Ford Performance.
