Sensors...?

When I first start 92 f150 5.8, it used to run at appx 1000 rpms then drop to 750rpms. Now it only idles at startup at around 550 rpms. After i start driving, about 10 mins warm weather, it goes to around 750 rpms. Is low start idle a sensor problem, or something else?

It could be a dirty or faulty IAC valve as that's what controls idle speed as well as cold start idle-up. With that said, there can also be other issues that are feeding the ECU inaccurate information that's causing it to think it's warmed up when it's not and then it's not telling the IAC to open like it should for instance. I'd certainly start by taking a look at the IAC though. Unplugging it should change idle speed (that shows the IAC is doing something when plugged in). The internal plunger should move freely. You can clean it with carb cleaner if necessary.

THANK YOU SPE. I'm not real sensor smart, my last vehicle was a '78. I'm researching, but not putting it all together yet.
