I was looking at all the owners manuals and other documents that come with a new Super Duty truck and I found this book called Super Duty Trailer Reverse Guidance. Has anybody taken the time to set it up and tried it out. If so what do you think of it. I read it over and was thinking this might be something that I would have my wife use as I direct her when it comes to backing up our trailer. Maybe that is a bad idea.
That's the package where you place the stickers on the trailer right? I have that too but have yet to purchase the boat. Would like to hear feedback from users too!
I did set it up with my 16’ cargo trailer when I first got my truck, and it sort of works. It does correctly recommend steering inputs and it’s better than nothing if you’re completely clueless. But it’s way less sensitive or accurate than just looking in your mirrors. I tested it for about 10 feet and immediately knew I’d never use it again! Maybe it’s better on the F-150s if they can steer themselves...
I set it up on a 18ft trailer on my 19 F250 and did not find it too helpful. Only tried it once though. What I noticed was the reverse camera changing views depending on steering wheel.
I set it up to play with it. 34 ft travel trailer. It's much easier to just back the trailer up the old fashioned way. It's actually a bit distracting.
I know this thread is a bit old but was wondering if anyone can give some insight into this system.
We have had our F350 that we use to pull our Travel Trailer with. Got everything measured and set up but when it says to drive straight for the reverse guidance to calibrate. Well we drove for over a 1/2 mile and nothing. It was a pretty straight road. How F'n long does it take to calibrate?? Tried 4xs on different occasions and the last time it worked. But, now it shoes Reverse Guidance not set up after we hooked the TT back up to come home.
Took me about 75 yards going forward to "calibrate" the system after setup.
You don't have to set up the trailer again. All of your measurements, trailer name, etc. will all still be there. But, as said above, each time you go into reverse, your instrument cluster message center will ask you to select a trailer. You have to press "OK" with your trailer highlighted and then the truck will attempt to find the towing sticker on your hitch. After it's found, you will have access to the full feature set of the Ultimate Tow Package.
Some of the views are good, but I really like the predictive aspects ... the little figure in the middle that shows relative angles and where you're aiming. That helps me to not get too sharp and to pick a better line.
