My '95 T-bird with 4.6 (bought used in 2009) had a lot of leakage past the stem seals, using oil, would smoke if you let it sit at a stop light even.. Only had 51,xxx miles, I know it was in part because the guides in that year were short. I was gonna replace seals, but as a temporary thing,I tried Bardahl No Smoke with Seal Sealer in it. Cleared 90% up, No longer see a plum in the mirror and oil use dropped dramatically after a couple thousand miles. I put a bottle in at every oil change now, never did do the stem seals. Car has 117,xxx now, doubt I will as good as it runs. No smoke, still uses a quart in 2,xxx miles though.

Some snake oils work.
