70 302 valve adjustment

can someone tell me what the proper adjustment procedures are. I'm under the impression that the 302 has no-adjustable hydraulic valves. Am I right that the
rockers are simply torqued down to spec?

thanks
jeff

Jeff, yes your ’70 302 originally had non-adjustable rockers. If your heads are the same vintage, they have the rail style rocker arms and the positive stop studs. All you do is torque down the rocker arm nut and hope the clearance is correct. You can check it by bleeding down the lifter and checking the valve stem to rocker arm clearance. Can’t remember off-hand the exact clearance but I think it is around .200” or so, someone help me here if you can. If your clearance is off, you can buy pushrods that are /- .060” in length to make the adjustment.
