Frustration with new truck order
#16
They are building around 1 truck per minute these days, so I would think they pile up fast. The shear logistics of it all is somewhat mind boggling. They will end up with a couple thousand of them in about a day and a half. That said, I would imagine that there might be shortages and/or part mismatches that gum up the works.
Our truck happened to come in pretty close to the 8 week lead time we were quoted when we ordered it. That said, I know the truck sat at the depot at both ends about a week.

So I ordered a 2019 F-150 King Ranch in mid February. It was built on 3/22 and yet it still sits in Dearborn. The first estimated delivery date was 4/9, which slipped to 4/18, and then to 5/2, and now today it's been delayed until 5/12. And the Ford order status site says it still hasn't shipped. The dealer has been no help other than to tell me there's a shortage of rail cars. I ordered a new Explorer last year and it was delivered in a timely fashion. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with F-150 orders and/or you have any suggestions for getting Fords attention. Really frustrating to have your new truck sit just one state away and apparently nothing you can do about it.
My order for the truck in my signature, took over 2 months & 10 days before it showed up. I ordered it on 6/15/17, Ford accepted/invoiced the order on 7/17/17 (Mine had a priority of 20 on it - What ever that means), it was physically built on 7/24/17, but it didn't leave the Dearborn parking lot until 8/20/17 (That is a guess since I was manually checking to see if it shipped everyday) and finally arrived in Glendale Arizona on 8/25/17.
There was another member here that worked in the Kansas plant he stated that one of the reasons a vehicle will sit in the parking lot is because if a part is back ordered or not available during assembly, it will still show the build date, but it maybe missing something ? He said they had a crew that would do the final assembly of the missing parts when they come in. They never stop the line whether there are all of the parts or not.
Hang in there.

I have a truck in transit that was supposed to be delivered to my dealer around May 5th but once it actually was enterd into transit on the Ford tracking page the delivery date was no longer available. My salesman actually e-mailed me to tell me that delivery would be postponed and all he could tell me wa that it was on a train and was being held up. Seems to me that once it leaves the assembly plant it is subject to the constraints of the carriers and I imagine with the amount of trucks that are being pumped out it can become quite a cluster.
