Looking for elpwith vin

I am putting my 63 Merc on a frame with twin I beam. I do not know what year the frame is but I found a partial number. The only number I can find is EDC8TFH2. Is there anyway to tell from this what year it is?

This is not a VIN or partial VIN

Is this number stamped on the outside of the right (passenger) side frame rail, behind the front bumper?

If so, it's the frame ID engineering number. C8TF is 1968. See parts catalog pic example below.

The VIN is stamped atop the right frame rail, either partially under or ahead of the cab and contains 11 digits.

1968 sample VIN: F10YRC12345

F10 = F100 2WD / Y = 360 2V / R = San Jose CA Assembly Plant / C12345 = 1968.

Thanks for the information. The number is from the LF frame area. I was originally told it was a 64 but I knew that was not correct because it was a twin I beam frame. Thanks again.
