I see a lot of people who live in the desert using them. I hear they are good for removing the dust that settles on vehicles every week.

If you see rain, mud, or general daily-driving road grime...a foam cannon will do nothing. You must physically remove the dirt with a mitt or brush.

One of the first things I did after getting my 17 was ceramic coat the entire truck. I now use my power washer with foam cannon in between more involved cleanings and it takes mud and dirt right off if i soak the spots first. This is my farm truck and Im in western mass so it sees plenty of mud. I can do a quick clean in 15-20 minutes with it. I also use the cannon when doing a full clean as well to presoak the truck and than move to a normal 2 bucket wash. The amount of soap used is small and it takes less than five minutes to soak one side. I bought this one and have a cheap electric power washer for getting the salt off in winter I use with it:

Amazon Amazon

They aren't miracle devices but are a good tool to have IMO.

Foam cannon won’t remove road grime. All you’re really doing with it, from my testing, is loosing the dirt making it easier to remove dirt with less chance of scratching. There is a window for washing tho. If you wait too long it dries back to the vehicle like it was. So I’m my mind it’s not really worth it.

I do the same. I've been using a cheap Amazon foam canon for a couple of years now. I use it on all my vehicles. Don't spend a bunch of money on one...there isn't much to them.

I got a kit from chemical guys that had one in it and it works good as a pre-soak to get off a lot of the loose stuff. Then after rinsing I go to the two bucket method. Using this seems to be easier than the foam cannon that I have to hook up to the pressure washer.

What size pressure washers are you guys using? I have the foam cannon and a small electric pressure washer (due to storage space) and I cannot get enough foam to make it worthwhile.

I have two and both work fine (Ryobi 1700 psi electric and Ridgid 3300psi gas). The gas definitely foams more, but the electric works just fine. I use the electric more often on the cars.

I tried a foam cannon, but I just never felt the results were any better than my traditional 2 bucket method. I'm looking to sell mine now.

Likely you need to change out the orifice in your foam gun. I was getting something the consistency of soup out of mine until I changed the orifice, now my $99 electric pressure washer works great with the foam gun.

I got a $20 one on Amazon and it’s one of the best detailing purchases I’ve made in a long time. I can wash my truck in 20 minutes and the 5th wheel in 30 minutes. I rinse the entire thing, foam a section, use a truck brush to scrub, then rinse. It’s super easy. I use Meguire’s premium wash n wax in it. You can adjust the pattern of the spray and the amount of soap.

I started using S100 on my Harleys. It sprays on... sit a bit.. I do use a very fluffy clean brush... and rinse clean. Comes out spotless. Not supposed to let it sit too long. Or on naked aluminum so it might remove wax too. I use a spray detailer after clening that has UV block in it to protect the paint. My F 250 is scheduled to arrive May 15. Thats probably how Im going to keep it clean.

What size orifice did you go to? I see options for 1.25mm and 1.10mm. Are there others?
