Two Questions

1st: On the fuel filter change is there a notification that will come on when it's needed or are you supposed to just automatically do it when the book says to?
2nd: For last couple weeks my steering wheel has a clicking/creaking noise. Any idea what this might be? Not sure if there is something that could use a little WD40 or what.

Truck has a little over 14k miles.

I can't comment on the steering issue but I can confirm that there is no fuel filter indicator on the dash. You just need to keep track of your mileage.

Rod.

No notification. Change your fuel filters every other oil change.
Steering wheel noise could be any number of things. Physical examination is required to determine the actual cause. May require parts.

Platnium with everything. When I turn right it's just a noise. It doesn't do it every time just annoying more than anything.

It's under the 3/36 warranty, take it back to the dealer.

My owners manual recommends changing both fuel filters at 30,000 mi. I check for water every oil change.

Yea, every other oil change is a waste of money. Just check for water once a month if you want to be extra careful.

Mine has a sound I would describe as similar to yours when turning mostly noticable when vehicle is stopped or making low speed turns. Almost in a way kind of sounds like how I imagine a spring being wound up? Never had it looked at tho. Off warranty and it's not enough of a bother for me. Will watch and see if you find a solution tho!

So went to dealer for fuel filter change and to take care of recalls. The noise I'm having in the steering wheel is from a bad bearing in the steering column. Waiting on the part to come in to get it fixed. Got pretty pissed off at them over the block heater recall. I wasn't aware that the new replacement part hasn't been released by Ford yet...or they are covering their ***. They told me they went ahead and just "removed the block heater, since we are in Texas". I threw a fit, and they knocked $50 off the fuel filter and threw in free tire rotation and oil change.

I read about that in the latest block heater debacle. Ford has asked dealers to remove the block heater cord until they have a fix. Oh the crazy things we do in the name of liability! I guess if you want to keep yours then don’t go to the dealer.
