Has anyone had issues with their rear camera wiring? Have a 2017 F350 Lariat CCSW 6.7L with only the rear view camera. The camera screen would intermittently work when placed into reverse. Took it back to the dealership and first advised that the camera was bad so they replaced the camera. I pick the truck up however the screen in the cab is still going black from time to time when placed in reverse. I take it back to the dealership and they advise that when the LineX was placed in the bed they crimped one of the wires leading to the camera so they have to replace the wiring harness and it was going to cost me $410. Advised this service manager that his dealership sold me the truck with the LineX already installed. They replace the harness at no cost to me.
As the tech allegedly is backing the truck out, the screen goes black again. He pulls it back into the service bay and takes a few more days to trace the wiring from the screen in the cab all the way back to the rear view camera looking for problems. No problems are found and they get Ford involved. This problem has turned into weeks without the truck and the dealership provides a loaner car. Ford tells the dealership to replace the entire wiring from the head in the cab all the way back to the rear view camera. Dealership has to order parts and wiring and finally get them in. The dealership rewires the the entire assembly to the camera and you would think this is done and fixed. Nope!
Again as the tech is backing the truck out the screen goes black and they pull it back in. Turns out the camera has gone out again which sounds like a short in the system and they have to order a new camera. So lets recap, several weeks in the shop, new wiring harness for camera, complete rewiring from the head in the cab to the rear view camera, and two new cameras......so far!
As of this writing the truck is still in the shop because the dealership just got the latest new camera in but the tech was sick. We don't have much choice up here in Alaska but the dealership is trying to get this problem solved, its just that this Ford product seems to be possessed and I am glad I have the extended warranty. It sounds as if I will be needing it.
