Looking for info on my engine. PO passed away and I bought the truck from his wife who doesn't know much about it. The truck from factory was a 352 3 speed. Engine block has C6ME casting # which shows up in the ford V8 guide as 390?. .. but has 2 bolt engine mounts which were 65 and prior? Truck is a 65 Mercury M100 ( same as f 100 ) The heads show up as 390 (C8AE-8) There is also a casting # at the bottom rear of the block right hand side C2AE. crankshaft is C4AE.intake manifold is S code 390. I measured the stroke using the dowel method and measured 3.50 so 352 right? Rambling on here but can the C6ME casting # be on a 352 block?

C6ME is a 1966 block casting number prefix. All FE engine blocks were originally cast as 352's, but when finished, could be other sizes. So, C6ME could be 352/390/410/428.
1958/64 FE engines were only installed in cars, have rounded valve covers without holes for oil cap/smog valve. Have an engine oil fill tube at the right front.
These car FE engines have a different bolt pattern on the block where the rubber insulator bolt on, than 1965/76 FE engines.
C8AE heads are 1968/71 360/390. 1972/76 360/390 heads are D2TE-AA .. 360 also has a stroke of 3.50" but wasn't introduced until 1968.
Casting numbers are foundry marks, cannot be cross referenced to Ford part numbers.
Thanks ND , so 352 with 360 or 390 heads, obviously not original block then. strange that it has the 2 bolt mounts, I thought that they were only on 65 and earlier?
