I added ambient lights to my 17 XLT. I used a kit from F150LEDS. Pretty easy install - full color choices and brightness controlled with a remote... works well for what I wanted. No door LEDS, but under seats and console, along with the cubbies along the center console.
How dim can you make them? Could you post some pictures?
I finally got around to trying this mod. I do have the LED under the passenger seat, but no others. I fired up ForScan and changed all the HEX codes. Nothing on the Sync 3 display for the lighting control. I double checked them, they were correct per what was listed by jonathanjr1 in this post, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post18156769
Per the F150 Forscan sheet and the post above 726-31-01 should be set as follows xxx2 xxxx xxxx. 2 is listed as WF and AMB. I'm not sure what WF may be. I ended up changing the last number in the first HEX series to 0, which is ambient only. The menu then showed in the display and all the colors work.
My truck is a 2017 F250 with Lariat Plus package. Production date 05/11/17.
The doors are so easy and prob the best ambient lights.... the cabs prewired right at the connector for it already. If you guys were close I'd help you do them in a few hours.

so am I understanding from your post that the 2019 cupholders don't light up ? im ordering a 2019 lariat ultimate, is there not going to be ambient lighting in it? or is there but it doesn't color change?
Lariat ultimate will have ambient lighting but it’s only ice blue with fixed intensity. The positive is the LED modules are in all the factory locations to include the doors and console.
What has not been determined is exactly how you can convert yours to the earlier version of multi-color and varying intensity. When we added it to our ‘19 Lariat Value trucks, we put in 2017 modules which were from when it was still multi-color from the factory and made the listed code changes.
I don’t know if it’s just code changes, LED module changes, or both. The good news is the LED module swap would be easy since everything is in place whereas in ours the doors require added wiring and panel mods - Mkos1980 did a nice write up above on that part, I skipped doing doors.
Maybe you can be the first ! If you convert yours please let us know what needed to be done - curious minds would like to know and I’m sure you are not the only one who would like the multi-color back

I would think someone will beat me to it before I get my truck(july-august), I don't need this feature but I cant see it being too expensive to keep so kinda sad on fords part. my wifes explorer has color change ambient and my kids love playing with it.
