Where to put cell.

I'm wondering how people store there cell phones. I have found the cubbys suck. Where you can charge it you can't get to it. I have resorted to cup holder or the top of the dash, neither of which is great.

Any great solutions?

Scott

I typically just leave it in my pocket. If I do have to pull it out, it goes in a cup holder till I reach my destination, and then back in the pocket. If I'm on a long trip, and it needs to be charged while driving, then I plug in the cable, and it goes upside in the cup holder.

I bought a 6" cable for my iPhone X. Plug it into the USB in front area, drop the phone in that cubby and close the door. Apple Car Play takes over and while it's not perfect, it's close enough. Some apps can be a little annoying, but it's an absolute exercise in discipline to not reach for it. Prior to this on my '08 F150 and a Jeep, I used a Quad Lock windshield mount that I put over on far left by the pillar and ran a long cable behind/through my dash into the USB port. My QuadLock case has the adapters for my mountain bike, running arm band, etc., hence having gone with that one, but it was also the only one I could find that didn't bounce too much (especially in the Jeep). But with this new truck and Apple Car Play, I love just plugging in that little cable and closing the cover in that front cubby. Keeps me from messing with it while driving.

I consider this a good thing. I wish more people "couldn't get to" their phones when driving. Bluetooth connections should be enough. Store your phone away from reach, drive, and, when you arrive, retrieve your phone.

Otherwise, there are some clever cup-holder designed gadgets, like this one from WeatherTech.

Good luck.

Made my own holder and ran a cable there. I use Android Auto every time I get int he truck, so its completely hands free for any interaction I need to do with my phone while driving.

I too use the CupFone (link is above in the quoted text) and I like it for my LG G5 in an Otterbox Commuter case.

Where to stick yer cell phone...

All joking aside on where to put your phone all depends on what it's doing. I have a vent mounted cell phone holder that sits directly to the right of the column shifter and facing me. My 2017 XLT came with SYNC and allows me to use that display for phone, maps, music, etc. I really don't need to see my phone unless it's something not available through SYNC. For me, if my bluetooth is working for hands free talking and there's a Google map displayed on the SYNC console screen - I'm set. If I just want to charge the phone, plug in a cable and store it anywhere that suits you. Lucky for me, I've got tons of options - center console, cubby space under radio, etc. Don't forget, police are getting more and more uptight about "talking and texting" while you're driving, so the less you have your phone on you the better. If you're hell bound to play with your phone when you're going somewhere, let someone else drive (or look it up on their phone) instead.

I have it stuck below the power port to the right of the screen on the silver smooth part. Has not fallen off yet and that was with sub zero temps in winter. Not to mention, its a wireless charger.
