I needed a place to mount my booster. I picked up the main bracket from Princess Auto and used gorilla 2 sided tape to mount to the dash. I also had to modify where it mounted to the booster cradle and used 2 sided tape as well. The first setup broke because the bendable bar inside the arm was not attached well enough so I filled each end with gorilla glue and let it dry to stiffen up where the bendable bar attaches to each end of the mount. It’s held up so far and I drive rough roads. It will eventually shake enough and go out of position but it just bends back into place. Power for the booster and charging cable is ran out of the front wood grain cubby hole. The antenna wire is tucked in the side pocket of the console and ran out the back door to the antenna. I know there’s boosters with all the options but this is the one I had and I wasn’t buying a new one.
Made my own holder and ran a cable there. I use Android Auto every time I get int he truck, so its completely hands free for any interaction I need to do with my phone while driving.
I have to measure it or someone might have tried it already but my rental f150 at work has the 40/20/40 with the cup holders in the center seat back. It looks to be the same size as mine but the recessed spot for the phone is bigger. Might try one considering it fits my phone perfectly.
I typically just leave it in my pocket. If I do have to pull it out, it goes in a cup holder till I reach my destination, and then back in the pocket. If I'm on a long trip, and it needs to be charged while driving, then I plug in the cable, and it goes upside in the cup holder.
Same for me. Phone stays in pocket unless someone calls.
I never knew all these holders existed, lol. I’m not a tech guy though. I do wish the molded phone tray for the center console was by the driver instead of the passenger in my 17.

If you mean that tray to the right of the cupholders, my iPhone X fits perfect width wise, but it's slightly longer, so the phone ends up propped up. But even still, I don't use it. My wife as claimed that spot for her phone (Samsung S7). If it had built in wireless charging (like the GMC I was considering before test-driving the Ford had) then I might fight her for it, but for now, she's welcome to it.
I’ll try to address questions on the phone setup in sequence. I’m cross posting this to two threads where I got questions about this.
Mount: built right mount and ram system.
Electrical: From the picture below you will see the metal reinforcement parallel to the dash. The outlets have to be set all of the way to the back of the tray to clear this. This was definitely a snug fit on the outer outlets and I had to bend the spades to clear. If I were to do it again I might stick to two, though three did fit with some care to where the wires bunch up.
Word to the wise- plan for outlets that are unlit or to remove lighting - lights or lighted gauges in this area are annoying to see reflected in the glass. I had my heart set on USB C so I bought the following adapter, disassembled it, removed the voltage meter, and reassembled.
The electrical is 12 gauge to the passenger kick panel where I used a fuse tap. I ultimately intend to use the firewall pass through wires and upfitter switches so the passenger kick panel was the place to get. I settled for the fuse tap at that location to get the work in the dash done.
The electrical work was probably only an hour with parts on hand. I also ran a second circuit to my center console for future use. It was relatively easy to fish the cables with the center stack popped out. I’d recommend watching any of the f150 or f250 4” to 8” screen conversion videos on youtube. They show you everything you need to see. Running to autozone to get the correct fuse tap (micro2) after I ordered the wrong ones took the most time!
Cellphone chargers: These have been decent; had one in my wife’s car for a while and no issues. They are fast chargers. No complaints. I don’t have the highest hopes for the longevity of the motorized clamps, but so far I’m super happy with the ease of use and firmness of the grip on the phone.
Attaching chargers to ram mount: the key is a 25mm to 17mm ball adapter. Most times you see a small ball mount it is 17mm. My radar detector mount has one and another cell phone charger I have also uses a 17mm ball. Here is what you need:
Pretty simple, just bought this phone stand off Amazon, cut the bottom off and screwed it to the cubby. Drilled a hole for the usb-c cable, easy peezy.
