Hey, I'm looking for a steering column for a 1952 M3. The one that is in my truck has damaged threads and would like to replace, please let me know if anyone out there may have one to sell.
Are you referring to the threads for the steering wheel retaining nut? If so, then you don’t need a steering column. You need a new steering gearbox. That shaft is one piece down through the column and into the gearbox. The worm gear is pressed onto the end of it. The steering column will slide off of it once the clamp at the gearbox is loosened.
If you’re handy, then the shaft and worm gear are sold new as a unit. It would be possible to rebuild your box and replace them.
If you’d rather find a used unit, any box from a 1948-52 F/M1,2, or 3 will fit.
