Well if I had done what I should have done 6 months ago, this would be a non-issue. Put two band-aids on Methuselah's steering shaft when he needed a turnicate. So - out with the tilt wheel - and off to R & R Steering Column Repair in Waldorf, MD. [http://www.rrsteeringcolumns.com/con...hank-you.html]
Going to have a non-tilt rebuilt by R & R - they are the only business around dedicated to steering columns only. The AGR gear box and Berguson shaft are on order, along with the gear indicator. Note to self - stop putting band-aids on problems that need a turncate! Anyone ever use R & R?
The folks at R n R said the issues are with the tilt - with a straight shaft I should be good to go. Scrubbing the old one up and will give it a coat of paint before its installed.. Thanks!
