What motor is cheapest to build 1,000hp?

I was wonder what engine, 6.0, 6.4, 6.7, would be the cheapest to get to 1000hp? I know on all 3 the bottom end would need built to be 100% reliable. Wanting to do compounds also.

The 6.7 woul be. Doesn't mean the rest of the drivetrain will handle it.

I would find an allison trans that would bolt up to the 6.7. they are freaking strong! at least in terms of durability

A P-pumped Cummins is the cheapest way to hit 1,000hp. Won’t even need bottom end work as long as the secondary turbo isn’t too small. Been driving one for years.

agree with Drothgeb on the cummins or a DT360/466 with a p-pump, though not near as cheap as a cummins

Cummins would be my choice on diesel (other than my stout Cleveland originally 351, now higher) that has well past that number, but is not diesel).

6.7 can be tuned to 1000hp with a emissions delete.

+1 on the 6.7. We have 650HP with stock injectors. When we pull them we'll install our 100% over injectors. Planning to break 1000HP.
