code 1280

Pulled code 1280 on my truck, ICP out of range (low). Does this mean the switch is bad?

Terry,

if it's running allright I would clear the code and see if it pops back up in a few drive cycles. If it's running bad what are the symptoms? IE: stumbling or stalling or no start?

It's running fine. Cleared codes last night and it's back this morning after two drive cycles

Thinking the sensor is working part time.

Only way that I know to see if that's it...............replace with an OEM unit.

Not 100 pct sure but others will come along.

Good luck,

Denny

Terry,

Afterthought?? Have you pulled and inspected the sensor plug??? See if there's oil on it. If so, new sensor and clean the pigtail with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner.
Look for frayed wires as well.

You can also start the truck if it's dry and unplug the sensor. If the idle changes. Sensor is good and something else is up.

Take the above procedure into play and replace with motorcraft only.

Thinking a 5/8 open/ wrench.

BTW, since it's behind the alt, I would disconnect the neg terminals for safety unless your a surgeon.

Let us know what happens.
