Can a dirty carb cause an engine to miss

yes, the flux capacitor just starts to stuter with anything over 5 ppm dust!!!

Yes, the carburetor has to very precisely meter the fuel into the engine. If it's dirty, and fuel can't get through at a steady pace, it'll have lean spikes, which would cause it to miss.

That's oreilly part number 121g isn't it?
