Hey guys, looking at building a 390 I have sitting in a parts truck for my '69 F100 project. I'm wanting to go with aluminum heads and the edelbrock are the most budget friendly option. I've heard several times over across several different platforms that the guides are too tight and the valve jobs leave a lot to be desired.
Are there any sellers that buy bare edelbrock heads and do their own guide and valve seat work? And would also be able to install the right comp springs for my cam?
TIA,
On all engine builds, valve guide clearance should be checked.
If you are looking for 400-450 hp the Edelbrock rpm heads are a good choice. I have only once had stock rpm heads on an 428 engine, and they worked well with stock valves. For all out racing, then porting, larger valves, chamber work, make the rpm heads work nicely.
We have made 767 n.a. hp with highly modified Edelbrock Rpm heads with a bored and stroked FE.
