Looking at some of the different roller cams. I see lots of high RPM cams and very few torque type cam's. This is a basic stock 390 that will have some type of TBI on it.
Crane and Lunati show Hydraulic roller cams, I've heard Comp makes them but they don't show up on their site, I like the spec's on Howard's cams, they don't have crazy high lifts like the others so valve spring life should be better.
If your wanting a solid roller it will have to be a custom grind for a mild street.
I have wondered the same thing for quite some time. Is there a hydraulic roller cam out there for FE's that would be worth the cost over a typical flat tappet cam for a well built pickup engine?
I believe it would be. I think it would run a lot better then a flat tappet cam.
part of my reason is look at the oil we have. Time you buy good oil add some extra additives to it synthetic becomes cheaper. Synthetic oils come a long ways and let our Motors look a lot longer.

Anyone find a good torque cam for towing?
I think you'd be happy with the smallest Lunati roller. That is in the ballpark of what a lot of us are using for duration for a flat tappet in our trucks.
