I am considering putting a sound deadening liner in my 48 F3. I have the interior out at the moment, so now would be the time. As I google this I am seeing many options. Do you guys recommend any product over the others? Any drawbacks to doing this? How much do I need? Thanks for any input, Brian.
I started this thread a while back. Ther is a lot of good info, regarding many different materials. There are also several other threads covering this subject. Try searching, (upper right hand corner). You'll probably find just what you wanted.
Grace Ultra, a roofing product, is Dynamat without the foil and the high price. It is self adhesive and comes in a roll that will more than cover a truck cab. Give it a look .
Thanks for your input. I will check these suggestions. Also I did a search, but must not have used the correct wording because I didn't get anything good.
This is good info, I'd love to see some pics of how you guys finished off your floors, especially near the door edges. Having a 49, I can see creating something like a door sill will probably be necessary.
Now that warm weather is here its truck time again. Now that warm weather is here its truck time again. Insulated cab
Spray glue scissors and will power Insulated cab
John - loved your article. I see it has a copyright dated 2018 - have you put many miles on your truck since installing your insulation? If so, are you satisfied with the performance?

about 50 feet, Scott... still working on it... but road test will be soon

I used a product called RattleTrap found on eBay. Same product as Dynamat at a cheaper price. They include a sample of Dynamat when you order to compare for yourself. I used 75 sq ft which provided enough to cover the roof, back wall, B-pillars, entire floor as high up the firewall as I could, both doors inside and out. Difference in road noise was immediately noted, as was a cooler cab. I will still be adding a padded insulator before attaching my inner abs panels. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I bought some Kilmat off of Amazon....they have 80 and 50 mil in various sq feet. Haven't had a chance to install it yet...waiting for the warm weather to get here, but it look to be good stuff.
Sometimes the other forums have good info for us classic truck guys. I have not made a decision nor purchased sound deadener and insulation for my truck yet.
