Hello, new guy here... new to diesels as well as new to the forum. I tried the search and didn’t find exactly my question. I have a ‘17 and I turned the petcock of the water seperator and I kept getting water. Don’t hate but I’m assuming that diesel is coming out too and if I keep it open it will just continue draining diesel fuel? How do I know how much to drain out? How often should I drain it?
get a clear plastic container or glass jar....drain about 4 to 6 ounces....most water you can see easy if the amount is more than minimum......if no water present, and then let it sit 10 minutes to see if any settles out....
Diesel floats on water.....so water should come out first if any
Be sure it's water by letting it separate in a clear container. The fuel I buy is totally clear like water , diesel can be a few different colors from clear to green or yellowish
usually the first second or two will have the water if any. In the past I have gotten some and what appear for me was some bubble followed by a clear and steady stream.
