Thoughts on starter?

For an early model 1999 7.3 would we go PowerMaster HT starter? or Mean Green Machine HT starter? Or is there another one that is better in your opinion?

Thank you in advance, appreciate the responses.

The big, bad Denso is the way to go. I don't know who the preferred supplier is but beware the Chinese knockoffs.

I couldn't afford the Denso so I bought this one:
Amazon Amazon

Figured for the price it could be fill in until I can afford the Denso. So far it really has performed great. Cranks the motor very quickly.

Mine has gone 300,000 miles and over twenty years now. When and if it goes out, I'll bring it to a shop and get it rebuilt.

had mine not died on a road trip and had to give it up as a core I would have done the same, the OEM Mitsubishi starters are good units.

Denso is the best one but it's a little pricey. I put one in about 6 months ago after figuring out the original one was half shot after 20 years and have been happy with it.

There is a thread about the conversion in this forum. I bought a 19k mile 6.7 starter from a salvage yard for $50 and then did the conversion. I like the starter.

I would honestly reccomend a denso style 7.3 replacement starter. Doesn't take 2 starters to make one can csn get one about anywhere. Spins over just as fast as well. I've had a Napa one on mine for 6 years or so c

I really like my Denso from CNC Fabrication, but also trust that the 6.7L starter mod is a worthy adventure.

Taken from the 7.3L PSD Tech Folder.
