88 is all 88 and later cups, IE 7.3 cups, how did you damage it?? That is some hard ****... RPM and massive torque can cause the main caps to potentially walk. The girdle is cheap insurance.

Well with the injector stuck in the hole, I used a punch through the gp hole. That punch was apparently cheap and no looks like a candy cane. Tried getting my hook on my slide hammer in. Thought it was just a hair to big and tried hammering it in.... anyhow I am in need of before I can send these out. If anyone had junk heads laying around pm me thanks

All you have to do is grind the big threads off the injector body and twist the nozzle out, but we all are learnin. The cups can be had new, but theyre like hella pricey. You might try asking justin, he has a pair of heads that were cracked he uses for mocking i think.

Well I ordered a set of headatuds from R&D and I’m pretty sure there’s more than 22 studs in a kit not to mention most of them had the threads banged up and the nuts wouldn’t go on very nicely at all.... I’ll be calling tmw and I’m sure he’ll make good of this

Got the rest of my studs from R&D and I’m currently still trying to find a precup. Anyone with a junk head(s) laying around? I’d be glad to pay for a precup

Cracks are normal as long as they don't extend across the whole thing. That's per my international manual iirc

Well I bought I junk head to take it out of there. Do you guys know if you machine the heads with the precuts installed or removed? The specific shop I’m dealing with I trust very much but they don’t have a lot of experience with this engine and I’d hate to cause them headache messing up a lot of there cutters on the heads

Generally you mill these heads on a surface grinder with the cups in.

IF not then you will have to machine the counter bore for the cup.

Wow a surface grinder? I build and repair industrial machines and Iv probably only once seen a surface grinder big enough to fit them on the chuck. If I was told to just machine them I would decked the heads with cups out and measured depth and ground precups on a surface grinder but that is a lot of work to do it properly

you bet there is quite a few down here in South Texas Just for Cylinder Head work.

the VGS-20 Cylinder Head Machining Center seems to be a favorite for most of the shops that I serviced before I retired.

The Image is a Kwik Way Grinder, plenty of them too

I will have to discuss that with the shop before I give them the heads. Would you lecture the cups in? Or just brass hammer them in? I

The cups are usually just a tight fit; I've had them occasionally fall our when I had a head on the bench. Usually, though, a tap from inside the cup(through injector port) is needed.

This means that they should go back in very easily, once you have any crud cleaned out.
