Rear window swap?

I'm new....let me start off by saying that. Bought a 75 F100 last week. It needs some attention....and a rear window. I did a search on the forums, but couldn't find what I was looking for. So, I thought I'd start a new thread and ask the question here.

I had read that 80-96 rear windows were the same size but the sheet metal on the older trucks (1975) was thicker than the 80-96 trucks so the rubber gasket wouldn't fit. I'm sure this is common knowledge to most of you, but again....I'm new and therefore dumb. Can a window from a 80-96 be installed into a 75? I really like the sliding rear window so I was hoping to find one for my truck.

Thanks and I'll be back very often!

Yes they can. Get a new gasket for whatever year window you choose and you're good to go .the metal in the cab is the same thickness, it's the window itself that changes how thick it is. The older (73-79) windows are thicker than the 80-97 windows.

Thank you!!! I love that I now have a place to gain knowledge on my truck. I'm a Mustang guy who knows a ton on 65-70 Mustangs, but next to nothing on F100's. Thanks again!

I'll echo the above. Yes it will fit just make sure the gasket matches. 73/79 window... use a 73/79 gasket. 80/96 window; but a 80/96 gasket and you'll be a happy camper

What was the reason why there were two different 1965 Mustang hoods?

The better question is why did Carol Shelby put the unique floor console into the 68 Shelby?

AFAIK, 1968 GT350/500's were assembled by Ford, so Lee Iacocca probably had something to do with it.

yeah, it was a trick question. CS didn’t have anything to do with the designs after 67.

Aw, I was going to guess the '64.5 hood and the '65 hood, and that they are both '65 hoods because there technically were no '64 Mustangs.

C5ZZ-16612-A .. Hood Panel - 1965 Mustang before production date 8/23/1964.

C5ZZ-16612-B .. Hood Panel - 1965 Mustang from production date 8/23/1964 and 1966 Mustang.

What's the difference between these two hoods? The answer is that the 1965/66 hood had a provision for something that was not available for the 1965 early hood.

Is there a year that is more desirable than others? e.g. 80-89 90-96?
