So I might have screwed up. I decided to take off the cams to clean them and make the 24 roller follower and 24 lash adjuster replacement easier. I loosened the cam tower caps then took off phasers with engine key way at 11 o'clock (driver side cam spun a little but hopefully no harm done). Now that everything is clean and cams are back in place with towers still loose where do I go from here?
I'm thinking to use otc tool 6681 to tighten phasers bolt.
Take off cam caps and set cams in the correct lobed position then put caps back loose.
If cams are loose all valves are closed?? so I should be able to spin crankshaft clockwise until the key way is at 6 o'clock position.
Fit chains according to marks.
QUESTION: after chains fitted but guide tensioner not installed should I spin crankshaft key way back to 11 o'clock before tightening down the cam caps?? When is it safe to tighten down cam caps is my question, I can't even find the answer with Ford Makuloco haha. Thanks fellers!
