I’m changing out my injector cups on my 2000 7.3 and I can not for the life of me get the pasenger side plug out. The driver side was very hard to get out and when I looked at it it hadn’t loctite on it. I’m thinking I’m going to have to take the starter off to get better access to the plug. Any tips or advice would be appreciated, I really don’t want to have to take the starter off
You can still do a pretty good job of flushing the system with that one in just not as good of a job. If you want it out take the starter off so you don't round out the plug trying to go around the starter.
Put some heat on it with a torch or look at a hand impact like this too help brake it loose
I need to to get it out because I don’t want to dump all the coolant in to the cylinder when I pull out the injector cup
if you drain the coolant from the radiator the coolant level should be below the cups. I would flush the system and change all fluids after a cup job anyway.
So I took a swiveling ujoint extension and came from above the starter through the wheel well and was able to get that plug out. It was pretty dang hard to get out, don’t know who would put loctite on it. I was worried I was gonna round out the plug head I was putting so much torque on it.
