Factory tach cluster

Scored one today in the salvage yard along with a good exhaust system. Are the clusters a straight swap? Thanks

What year is your truck? You need to stay within 92-93, 94-95, and 96.

So you're saying I can take the one out of my 92 and put it in my 93 even tho the gauges aren't in the same locations?
I have a bad something on my 93's speedometer. every once in a while the needle don't move, or gets pegged at the farthest right and the digital display isn't there. I can tap on the face on it and the needle and the numbers will work again.

Mine is a 93, pretty sure the parts truck was a 92 or 93.

The part number on the back will give you a good idea of the year.

Yeah. 92 and 93 should be compatible.

Yes, the cluster is modular, so you can swap your speedo into the cluster with a tach, and retain your mileage. Once you remove the cluster, all the gauge pairs can just be popped out individually, makes a lot of sense when you're doing it.

What is the official reason for this? I did get a 93 (I pulled from salvage) unit installed in my 92, transferred the PSOM and cleared the gauges for white LEDs but I remember a person on Facebook market place argued the year did not matter. Were the pig tails different or internal circuitry. I am curious if I can collect additional PSOM boards.

I did notice the chip on the psom of the 93 said REV. 1992 and the two 92 units I had said REV. 1990 on each.

Here's the back of a 1992 tach cluster, if you want to compare it to the one you scored.

The circuit on the backside is wired a little differently on the '94-'95 when compared to the '92-'93, here they are side by side.

A relatively recent post on the topic of which year clusters are plug-n-play swap: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ap-thread.html

There are wiring differences between the different cluster of years. You can use a cluster from different groupings, but you need to know what the plug/pin wiring differences are to make it work properly.
