I have a 1951 Ford F1 239 V8 converted to 12 volt. Just put in a new 12 V starter and a new battery. Just get a single click when I push the starter button. Is the relay switch bad? Any other suggestions? I'm not an advanced mechanic, but sure am stumped here.

Did you forget a ground cable? Check new battery voltage? Did you install a new starter relay?
New battery voyage is fine, ground cable attached, but did not install a new relay.
The fact that the relay is clicking indicates that the contacts are closing, or trying to close. I'd put a meter or test light between the starter post on the relay and a good ground and see what you get when you press the button.
If you get a good reading on the meter or the test light comes on, check and make sure all the cable connections are clean and tight. If all that checks ok then you could have a bad starter, or it's hung up. Might have to bench test it.
Will go to my local NAPA to bench test it. A new relay did not fix the problem. Really appreciate your help with this, Bob. I used to live in Bothell back in the 90's, down SW of Portland now. Love your cement truck!
