Unexpected Voltage at Starter Relay
I have a 99 Expedition that has been parked for quite a while due to a Starter Relay and Battery Cable. I just replaced the Battery, Battery Cable Set and Starter Relay. It starts fine and seems to run normal, however, in trying to identity the trouble, I found 4 Volts (3.95) at the S terminal on the Starter Relay, even when the key is off.
This goes to 12 Volts when the Key is turned to Start and it does not (currently) seem to cause trouble, but I'm concerned that it could unexpectedly engage the starter while driving.
Is this normal?
