Engine swap help

ok I have a 1989 F150 single cab with a 5.0 in it. Well a f$&kin tree limb fell on the cab and across the bed. Well it’s done like unfixable (not worth the price to fix). Ok in the back yard I have a 1995 ranger extended cab that well I pulled the bs go kart size engine out and it got me to thinking, how hard and what all is involved to drop the 1989s 5.0 in it. I want to retain the computer and all that jazz. Basically the engine and transmission. Btw they are both 2wd. And the 5.0 has been built. ( forged rods roller rockers arp studs ground crank gaped rings and when the money comes procharger.

Well, pull the engine and trans. Then crawl in the engine bay and pull the harness and swap it into the ranger. May have hood clearance issues, but maybe a gt40 intake would be lower

IIRC a guy in my area 302-swapped an older Ranger. The EFI manifold might cause some clearance issues like Mudsport said but yeah, grab a tape measure and see.

it'll fit but you'll have to use exhaust manifolds or higher end ($) headers or build your own. I put dorman reproduction 289 manifolds on mine to set it into a Ranger. And you still have issues with the angle exhaust manifold approaches cab. you also have to move the engine mounts on the frame, but I think since my ranger was a V-6, I only had to move driver side. Kinda hard to get the mount where you need it, I know there's a couple holes under mine I wish no one could see, there was a little trial and error on my behalf. Can't comment further, as mine is just carbureted motor, no computer, etc. and haven't finished project yet. Not a very expensive swap, I cut out part of my radiator support to get a radiator a lot further up (needed the room).

I wouldn’t mind going carbureted tbh. Just don’t know if it is even worth the trouble currently the ranger is a 1995 v6 3.0 liter 2WD automatic. So I would be swapping the engine transmission and rear end
