Replacing a starter

Will this starter replace my old one. Its for a 6.4L my truck is a 6.0L. I have read that a lot of 6.0 guys have used this one.
Reason to replace my 2 year old REMY. When I turn the key after glow plugs warm up it will crank for a couple seconds then stops cranking followed by a buzzing sound as if its not engaged.
Batteries are brand new. Both 850CCA.

Has anyone used DB Electric starters before?
Any mods to be done or is it a perfect fit?
I need to know before I get under my truck in this cold weather.

Thanks

Can't speak for DB Eletric quality or reliability but a 6.4 starter will bolt right up with no modification.

Thanks, That's everyone is saying.
Now how about the durability of the DC Electric?

Thanks

The bolts are different sized. The 6.0 uses a smaller size and you'll need a collar to take up the slack.
BQLZR SF-1 Bronze Bushing Bearing 8mm x10mm x10mm Bush Motor

pretty sure this is the correct bushing I used.
eBay a used salvage starter off a 6.4 or 6.7 motor or try Diesel Redemption. I paid under $100 and it's been running strong now going on 3 years.

Use the db folks on a 4 wheeler starter. It has worked so far...

Randy, it's the 6.7 starter that needs the bushing. The 6.4L has the same size bolts.

I'll 2nd that statement. 6.4 starter is direct bolt on.

oh and I have used DB starters on my 87 diesel about 10 years ago and it's still working.

If your getting buzzing two things come to mind.
Bad solenoid
The starter feed has corrosion that you can't see and that is eating up the power as the cable heats up from all the current flowing.
I would do the free and easy things first. Do the voltage drop test to see if the cable is hiding some corrosion under the insulation.

You can also check the solenoid to see if it's going high resistance the same way.
One probe on the two large studs and have someone crank it for you unless you
have some clips handy to clip the leads on the studs.

This will give you a lot of info.

I don't know about DB reliability, but I put one of their 6.4 starters on my '05, direct fit, starts great. They give you a spec sheet with test results. I also got an alternator for my '06 Mustang from them and have used them for 4 wheeler starters. Their prices are hard to beat.

I would just go to the local wrecking yard and get a 6.4 starter from the latest year that they have.
One other thing I would do is reject any aftermarket or reman units unless it was from Ford.
For some reason and we can guess what that is the Ford units seem to last longer.
