installing lower window felts

finally got one piece windows working AWACBE (as well as can be expected) and I need to install the lower felts... the kits come with 4 plastic clippy things
that fit into the holes on the inside of the window opening... is that all that is necessary to hold the felts in place ?? or is glue or something else appropriate..

and seems I remember reading that you need to flatten the end of the felts so they stick behind the felt channel at front and back of door...

advise ???

john

Years ago when I had a broken drivers window and no time to replace it myself, I had a glass company do it. When he got ready to put the felts strips in he pinched the ends flat with a small pliers set to fit in between the channel strips and the window frame. Test fit as you go to ensure you don't pinch to far on the felt. These are the felt clips he used

You're going to need to glue where the vent window used to be John. Also be sure the opening is wide enough between the inside and outside door panels otherwise the window will have a hard time traveling in the channels. I also made a simple little tool from a hint I got in an article to help widen the gap, all it is is a piece of 1/8" flat bar bent over on itself so you can bend that flap the hold the felts..those little clips are a pain to snap in too and usually end up coming off the felts...feel free to use this #@%&*....

I'll look to see if I still have it BJ, all it is is a piece of 1/8 X 3/8 flat bar 4- 5" long and bent over on itself about 3/4 on one end. I can't remember if it was an article I read on instructions from either Bob Drake or Bobco's
