Trailer Brake Control

Hello, I have a diesel F-250 2015 with an integrated Ford brake control.
My problem, when I use the brake pedal to brake my fifth wheel, very little current passes to activate my brakes even if the control is maximum (10).
When I manually activate my brakes, everything works normally.
Yesterday I asked a friend to log on to my fifth wheel with an F-150 2011 and it's the same result.
These tests were done on the spot by lifting a wheel from my fifth wheel.
For the owners of Ford, did you have the same problem?
I am told that the brakes will work according to demand when driving with the fifth wheel. For my part, I made the route Quebec-Florida and I do not feel the fifth wheel brake when I press the pedal but works very well in a manual way.
I'm waiting for your answers. Thank you
I was suggested to have an independent brake control installed, is that the solution?

I believe the vehicle has to be moving above 20 mph (32 kph) to fully energize the brake system.
If the manual control activates the brakes, then the system is working.
If the system is adjusted properly, you should not feel the camper pushing the truck or pulling the truck while braking. The two should operate as a single unit. You will likely only feel the brakes grab during a panic stop.
I would not install a third party controller.

Thank You for answer. If my trailer brake control works manually, does not seem to work with the pedal. Is it the same wire that bring the current to my fifthwheel?

The answer to this question is, "Yes" - but did you read what wrvond said above? You won't get current to the trailer using the brake pedal while stopped. The truck's computer senses the speed before applying the trailer brakes. So, the truck has to be moving (more than 20 MPH according to wrvond) before pressing the brake pedal will result in current to the trailer brakes. The manual control will work even when stopped.

Have you changed the setting? From my 2016 owners manual below.
I went from low to medium which helped the feel when stopping while hooked up. Fords controller will get the job done if set up properly.

Trailer Brake Effort Setting...
The trailer brake controller allows the user to customize how aggressively the trailer brakes engage. The default value is the low setting and is the recommended setting for most trailers. If your trailer's brakes require more initial voltage, or if you prefer more aggressive trailer braking, then select either the medium or the high setting.

You can adjust the amount of initial trailer
brake output by selecting one of three settings through the message center.

Procedure for Setting Trailer Brake Controller Mode
See General Information (page 88).
Choose the low, medium or high setting for the required initial trailer brake output.

Understand the controller is like the one on my 2012 F250, goes from 1 -10. On my '14 Pinnacle, I could run on 7.5. With my current '17 North Point, with it on 10, still does not lock up brakes. Never had the issue before. I pulled wheels, adjusted and cleaned brake shoes (still like new) and magnets, no change. Not sure what issue is. Even when I get up to 20-25 mph and squeeze controller set on 10, still does not lock brakes. All manuels state to adjust until brakes lock, then back off one notch. That's they way I always did in the past and worked fine, not this time.
