I am new to the forum and to working on ford trucks. I am looking for help with the headlight switch. What is the difference between serial number before 25000 or after 25000? Is it the last numbers on the vin? any help will be grateful. Just want to get the right switch.
I have never seen where a serial # of a truck matters on the headlight switch. So when you went to the parts store they asked you the truck serial #?

Remaining six characters - 100001 - This is a numeric code for the vehicle build sequence. In some cases there could be two letters and four numbers.
To get a walk thru on how to remove the headlight switch stud and **** to get the dash bezel off to get to the switch go here. And welcome to FTE. You do not have to remove your instrument cluster just the bash bezel.
^ Y'all may never have seen a headlamp switch that the VIN is required to get the correct one, but it does matter in this case since the OP has a 1976.

Serial number is the last 6 digits of the VIN
1967/77 begin with a letter followed by 5 numbers. 1978/80 begin with two letters, followed by 4 numbers.
