Aluminum air cleaners from FoMoCo
My 1978 F150 302 V8 has one of the (what appears to be stock) aluminum air cleaners. mine is split 6 ways from Sunday and I guess I really need to replace it.
Did Ford make a production STEEL air cleaner for the 302 that would fit our trucks?
Like unto this here?
I just don't like the look of a bare air cleaner with a chrome lid on top of it..... I am out for the stock look.

Yes, these are very prone to cracking. 78 400 here. I stop drilled my cracks, then JB Welded. Still looking for a better replacement. I keep an eye out for these on part-out trucks. Hard to find without cracks. I recently attended a Carlisle Event in Pa. I hit up every Ford recyler/ supplier for one. One recyler from S. Carolina said he had a couple back home. He never got back to me, and I lost his contact info.

If I can find a couple, I will keep you in mind.

That is all Joe's hard work and attention to detail right there. Check out all of his thread, it is mind boggling how much detail he put in that truck. And it is all most done.

When I get off the road I will check in to see if you still need one and we can take if from there. I have sold a part or 2 on here so no worries.

Meridian Mike,
I had a similar OEM aluminum air clean crack dilemma as you mentioned. My fabricator friend was able to tig mine and it had two cracks, to me it's now as good as new. I cleaned and propped my before my friend performed his magic. You might evaluate your OEM air cleaner to see if it can be fixed (at a reasonable cost), I know there becoming harder and harder to come by.
