It rained yesterday and then the temp dropped into the low 20s, now my tailgate is frozen shut not sure if it's the cover frozen to it or the mechanism inside.. anyone else with this problem or was it a freak occurrence?
I ran into this all the time with my Backflip G2 on my Ram. It was the rubber on the seal of the cover freezing to the tailgate. I ended up having to carry one of these in the truck to use to carefully separate the seal from the tailgate:

It's the cover. Mine is frozen right now. Can't open the tailgate, and can't open the cover either (it's a Peragon - can be opened with tailgate closed) as they're frozen together. I'm thinking I'm going to try putting a little grease or vaseline on the cover seal to see if it would stop it from freezing tight. I'm also looking at carrying a small heat gun with me to thaw it if needed.
I've been using spray silicone and my tonneau still freezes to the tailgate, preventing it from being opened. It's way worse than my last Ram was. I think that this is partly due to the wide, flat top on the tailgate. It holds so much snow/slush/rain/etc...kind of like how the ledge on the doors does.
Mine was frozen last week. I have a bakflip revolver x2. Tried a couple of times and gave up. Later on in the day i came back to the yard and the tailgate was open. Must have been once the sun hit it for awhile. Just a heads up.
