1981 argent painted grille

I am looking for a paint code (or colour match) for the E0TZ-8150-A painted (no chrome) grille, I think it is dark argent and is darker than the '83 up painted grille. Long story short, I bought a NOS grille and it arrived broken worse than the one I have. I think my best option now it to buy the raw repro grille from Carpenter (that I can get locally) and paint it.

Have you considered taking the damaged NOS grill or your old one to a paint shop to see if they can match the paint?

The trouble is they make so many shades of that color and the size of the metal flake it is impossible to say "use this color".
If you have an auto paint supplier close by see if he can match it.
Other wise I would say go to someone like Eastwood as I am sure they sold that paint but for wheels and may be all you can get?

I am going to try to paint match but I don’t think there is a large enough flat spot for the machine to match. I was hoping someone had been through it already.

Also unless you have a factory grille and the 1 you painted next to each other as long as you are close on color no one would be able to tell it was not the right color.
That is why when you paint a panel on a car / truck you do a blend and not stop at an edge of a panel.
If painting a front door of a 4 door car you blend into the front fender & rear door and you will never see if there is a color difference.
With metal flake colors if the air psi is to high it can make the color lighter, to low darker, with the blend you would never see or know.

So get a color that is close and paint it and don't think twice about it.

I agree, it's not that important or even visible.

E1TZ-8150-A (replaced EOTZ-8150-A) .. Grille Insert - Painted Dark Argent / Obsolete

1980/81 F100/350 & Bronco // There is no color code for grille inserts.

Besides the above, there was also EOTZ-8150-B .. Chrome Grille Insert / Obsolete

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has (4) EOTZ-8150-A & (10) E1TZ-8150-A = 800-543-4959.

Shortly after 1982, Ford obsoleted all the 1980/81 F100/350/Bronco grille inserts, replaced them with 1982 grille inserts that have the blue oval emblem.
