So I just bought a 78 f150 reg long box and I am looking at lowering it, I’m wondering how much of a drop a leaf spring flip does and how much do I need to drop the front to make it level? And what I need for the front to do so, don’t want it sitting on the ground but definitely needs to come down, never lowered a truck before any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated
From the measurements I pulled I’m looking for 5” drop in the rear and 2” in the front for the stance I’m looking for. The front has coils and where do I find the tech tip? Still learning site sorry, thanks for the help tho
I've never tried to lower a 2wd, but it has a twin I-beam setup in the front, so changing the ride height is going to ruin the stance, if you go down the top of the tire is going to go in, it's gonna look like the idiots that lower their Hondas by cutting the springs, unless you alter or replace the I-beams.
If you mean flipping the rear on top of the leaves it will lower the rear exactly the thickness of the axle tubes. In my case about 5.5". It also stiffens up the ride and eliminates wheel hop as the axle has less leverage on the springs.
I now have the same size wheels all around and am considering going to shackles and hangers and removing the flip kit.
