I have a 2wd 86 F150short bed standered cab, well i was wondering how hard is it to put (2")lowering springs in, and if i get a shackle kit for the back (2") could i alsopulla leaf to get more drop and if so how much and which leaf. sorryfor so may ?
im sure someone can help me, it any the shop getting painted right now so im ready to get the rest of the look down.
If you're going for a level look you'll need more than a 2 inch drop for the rear...as for the fronts I don't know if anyone makes 2 inch lowering coils, I haven't looked for them either.E-bay has the 2 inch drop shackles for the rear for 43 bucks....You could pull a spring but I wouldn't......might play with the way your truck handles and not give you the ride you're looking for.JMO
Well i found airbagit.com has a pair of 2"lowering coils for 89.00 and i can get shackle kit for 37.00 im not looking for level i like the rake i would just like to drop the back end some more than 2" but not enough for the flip kit. I have an s10 thats lowered i know ride quality might suffer with pulling the leaf but i wasnt sure how much a f150 would drop with pulling a leaf.
Before you go all gung ho...2" drop shackes do NOT give you 2" of drop! If you are lucky you might get 1" out of it but I promise you will not get 2". The Hanger is where most of the drop comes from and if you only lower 1 side of the leaf, you only get (roughly) half the drop of the body of that of the spring (wow is that a mouth full).
I have installed the belltech drop hanger and shackle and varied between the top and bottom hole on the shackle. When I did a body measurement it was 1/2 inch difference between the 2 mount positions.
