This ^ ...... he was half *** . There is literally no reason to not orientate the clamps back down and re install the safety bar. Takes a whopping minute. I look at it that if he didnt handle that remedial task professionally, what else did he not do that he should have..... I'm meticulous and by the book with everything i do though..... if you want it fixed and the service writer gives you any grief, just politely tell him you are dissatisfied with the quality of their work and you feel asthough you are going to have to make mention of this situation on the CSI ford is going to send you. They gone fix it reeeeal quick. And when all else fails just tell him your not cool with making payments for the next five years on a peice of your truck that his tech threw in the trash can! LOL[/QUOTE
Look at the orientation of the clamp. It is 180 degrees from the original placement. If you rotate the clamp to the original position the steering wheel will NOT be centered. The tech knew what he was doing. If he had installed the tab the steering wheel would have be off. There is NO need for the tab. No interference anywhere.

Those clamps can be loosened and spun independently to re-orient them with the safety without messing up a perfectly straight wheel.

Thanks

Excellent. Mine were ridiculously tight and I did not realize they would turn. Figured they were tacked on. did not look that close as I never run the lock tab anyway. Good info.
Thanks

[QUOTE=UGA33;18418448]So if the Clamps can be loosened and spun independently on the coupler then the safety tab doesn't really do anything to keep the drag link from coming apart??

That quote was from UGA33. That was not my finding. And, yes, you are correct, if they spin independently the lock tab would not do any good. Good point.
