Telescoping Mirrors

The telescoping function on the mirrors on my 2012 stopped working. Both stopped at same time. When the button is pressed there are no motor noises, nothing. The fold in and out feature as well as adjusting the mirrors works fine. I cannot find a blown fuse. Are there any hidden fuses or any relays dedicated to this function I should be trouble shooting? I tried jumping the switch, but worried I would burn something up by jumping the wrong pins on the switch, so I stopped.

Anybody else experience this?

I had the same problem on my 11, except it was one then shortly after the other. I had to replace mine completely...I was lucky as it happened under my warranty period. I was told by my service advisor that it was a common issue early on with those mirrors as the gears in the housing are made of plastic and eventually they wear right down.
but if you’re not hearing the motors at all that sounds like an electrical problem completely.

Perhaps its your switch witch itself and not the mirrors. Do you have another switch you can try?

I've had to change my switch twice for the same problem. In my case it was intermittent.

Have you checked fuse 32 in the BCM?

One i recently bought to use for parts had a bad motor on the extend portion. The motors honestly look like they came out of a 1986 stomper battery powered car

So, if I put my voltmeter on the green/violet wire and the black/white wire i should get voltage? If i do, and the switch is not the problem, could it then be the relay? Still can't figure out which relay this one is. Any help would be appreciated.

I personally prefer using a probe with a light to check power from a switch or relay. A high impedance voltmeter can give misleading information.

My switch went bad as well. Did the same on my 2011. You can pop the side panel and unplug the harness and put some electric to it I bet.

Got a new switch from the dealer, still not working. Pulled all the fuses under the hood and most of them inside the passenger footwell and all were intact. I don't know how to test the relays and don't know which one powers these telescoping motors. If I knew which one, I could swap another just like it to see if that was the problem. Other than that, it could only be a broken wire or connection or something. I am about ready to give up on this!

While you are at the switch, I would check to see if the ground wire is indeed grounded and check for voltage at the power wire to the switch. If you don't have power or ground at the switch, you know which direction to go. If you have power and ground at the switch, then you make sure you get power and ground out of the switch. It's kind of unlikely that both mirror motors would be bad.

The relay is up above the brake release behind dash. It’ll be a bitch to get to I think. I’ve pulled hem out of wrecks when I wired my excursion and 99for the power fold and slide functions. But the dash was half torn down already.
