Ever have that fear when you hear a pop then the truck instantly runs better than before then you wonder...am I completely screwed or did something just unclog..No cat but I have a thrust muffler on it. I didn’t think it sluggish before, so I thought. Just swapped out the I6 with a 351. Was playing around. Hit 5000 rpm’s heard a pop and half **** myself, you know cause I just dropped in a **** ton of money and time doing the swap and everything. Now it rev’s much quicker and I got a little bit of a pop in the exhaust when letting off. Seems to have more snap to it now....
Most likely carbon broke loose, had the same thing happen. Things like that turn me batty. I rechecked everything and found the timing a tad off but other words fine, reset the timing and have not had any problems in over three thousands miles now.

ah that could definitely be it as the motor sat for a year or so before going in the truck. I had all the gaskets redone before it went in have babied it the first few thousand miles. So that there would actually make perfect sense. I’ll check timing and see where it’s at. Thanks
